Tomorrow Never Comes. It is good to hear that they are all
quite good. Thank you! But judge yourself:
"Arilyn are a four piece band from the southwest of Germany and
have been around for three years, this is their first album and they describe
their music as "spacerock". Tomorrow Never Comes is a really good album with
bass player Christian Kulbs strong voice finding no trouble handling the
change of language. The guitar of Jurgen Kaletta and keyboards of Jurgen
MoBgraber blend together well throughout the album to produce the "spacerock"
sound the band aim to produce, with a solid drumbeat from Christof Doll
giving the band a feel in places like 'Ozric Tentacles'. Thirteen tracks of
well produced rock songs from a band that are heading in the right
direction."
"Among many of the contemporary performers of Classic Space Rock that
I've heard, Arylin is probably the only band, the music of which is completely free
from any noticeably influences and sounds really fresh. Already on their debut album
Tomorrow Never Comes, Arilyn appears to be a fitting answer to such contemporary
imitators of their idols as Solar Project, Darxtar, and especially Living Wreck. In
conclusion, this is highly recommended to all those who consider themselves real
connoisseurs of Space Rock."
"For this album, to compare this music with bands is out of place.
Each song is different, original and always with some prog/sympho. So i won't
name a band to refer to because i would probably leave out a major band and in
the same time i would do this music harm.
A special compliment to the very good bass player/vocalist Christian Külbs.
His voice is very good and you can't hear that he is german.
Go out and order this album and enjoy this excelent debut !!! Recommended"
"Nevertheless, all included 13 songs are very good, and I enjoyed
listening to this album that has a playing time of more than 1 hour, so
definitely value for your money. The band has a good lead singer (bassist
Christian Kulbs), and all these various styles result in an own style for
ARILYN, and believe me, a very good rockstyle that combines the best of
the genres we believe in!"

"Sometimes, if you listen to a record in a shop, you only listen to a few
pieces and often you only get to hear the first 4, 5 songs. In case of Arilyn, you
would get a totally wrong impression. This is a CD that should have carried the title
Get more progressive in 13 tracks. Each song is more prog and more symphonic then the previous.
All the songs are beautifully sung by Christian Külbs, whose voice resembles from time to time to Midge Ure."

"The overall sounds are very modern, showing some nice compositions with wonderful themes, the main songs turn around from Christian Külbs vocals, is certainly main highlights, the instrumental are not limited with a variation between keyboards, guitars and drums, disclosing a great ability for music, exploring more accessible and melodic areas of years 80s. Better to compare or same showing, they play music inspired by bands as: Saga, Asia and Styx. Arilyn definitely has a lot to offer, being a great promise. Excellent and indispensable work, high recommendable..."

Echt zutreffend, wie ich finde, da die Keyboards recht dominant sind und allerlei Klangeffekte beisteuern [...]"
"Die Band schafft es spielend auf dem schmalen Grad zwischen, lediglich auf den ersten Blick unterschwellig durchschimmernder, Kopfmusik und abwechslungsreicher, auf den Punkt kommender Rockmusik, traumhaft sicher zu wandeln ohne dabei die Bodenhaftung zu verlieren. Wenn die Jungs von ARILYN so weitermachen, und ich zweifele nicht im geringsten daran, dann kann man zukünftig noch einiges erwarten! Jenseits der Plastikcharts und Supernasen gibt es eine weitere Prog-Rock Hoffnung "out in Space", da muß einfach die Höchstbewertung erfolgen. Danke auch noch für den Flug bei der ARILYN Airlines - ich werde wieder mitfliegen, am besten gleich.
"Mal wieder ein sehr erfreulicher Newcomer aus Deutschland.
Etwas überrascht hat es mich unter den doch oft sehr speziellen und
abgefahrenen QuiXote-Sachen relative normale Rockmusik zu entdecken.
Arilyn klingt auf den ersten Hör - passend zum Cover - etwas auf
Hochglanz produziert. Das verliert sich nach einem ersten Reinhören
aber schnell. Was bleibt ist eine Kategorisierung, bei der Namen wie Saga
und Asia fast unvermeidbar sind - und beide Male sollte man nicht an die
ganz frühen Anfänge denken.
Gerade im Blick auf Saga deutlicher Unterschied ist eine stärkere
Betonung der Gitarre im Vergleich zu den Keyboards. Das macht schon der
absolut geile und kraftvolle Opener deutlich, dessen Refrain sofort im Ohr
hängen bleibt.
Es folgt eine wunderschöne Ballade. Nach zwei leichten
Durchhängern tauchen beim Adventurer erste Eloy-Anklänge
auf. Während der Härtegrad bei diesem recht kurzen Track deutlich
höher ist, werden die Parallelen ab Rescue me vor allem bei den
Keyboards immer stärker.
Weiter Anspieltipps: das dramatische Nameless, das kraftvolle
Mindeater und das an Child in Time erinnernde
Tomorrow never comes.

"Tomorrow Never Comes besticht durch seine musikalische
Vielfalt. Hier bekommt der Hörer über 60 Minuten feinste eigenständige
Rockmusik geboten. Ein besonderes Lob muss ich an dieser Stelle dem
Keyboarder Jürgen Moßgraber aussprechen, der Mensch hat Talent. Talent
und vor allem eine eindruckvolle Stimme besitzt Christian Külbs. Aber
ohne die beiden anderen Musiker Jürgen Kaletta und Christof Doll, die
für den richtigen Druck sorgen wäre es wohl nicht so ein geschlossenes
Werk geworden."

"Eine Band, die es auf knapp 64 Minuten
fertig bringt, eine musikalische Mischung aus The Seer, Fury In The
Slaughterhouse, Prog-Bands, Ultravox und 70er-Krautrock mit wirklich
anspruchsvollen Texten zu veröffentlichen, hat es auf jeden Fall
verdient, näher beachtet zu werden. Und ich kann jedem musikinteressierten
Leser meiner Homepage nur raten, sich die CD zu besorgen (entweder direkt
bei QuiXote-Music oder auch bei Amazon). Ich kann ohne Bedenken eine gute
Stunde wirklich interessante Musik versprechen. Und es bleibt die Hoffnung,
das der Albumtitel nie eintrifft, denn sonst gibt es keine zweite Arilyn-CD."

"Aus der kleinen Heidelberger Musikschmiede QuiXote kommen zwar nicht Releases am laufenden Band, aber die, die dann letztendlich das Licht der öffentlichkeit erblicken, haben es in der Regel in sich. So auch im Falle Arilyn, denn Tomorrow Never Comes entpuppt sich bereits nach wenigen Durchläufen als echtes Kleinod und ruft beim Rezensenten einiges an Begeisterung für dieses Werk hervor. [...] Auf unserer Punkteskala würde ich Tomorrow Never Comes irgendwo im Bereich zwischen 9 und 10 Punkten einordnen. Ach was soll's...10 Punkte (mit Debütanten-Bonus) und die Markierung zur CD of the Moment (= Underground-Support)."
